Super Top- Up Mediclaim Policy

Super Top Up policy is a Family Floater and individual Policy which offers you coverage of Mediclaim above your chosen deductible limit along with extra ordinary features. It offers you financial relaxation in the event when your hospitalization claim bill crosses your sum insured under any other Mediclaim policy.

 

The Super top-up plan is important as it provides additional coverage over existing health insurance policy. A base health insurance plan will pay the medical bills up-to the definite sum insured, but a Super top-up plan will assist you by covering the medical bills after a definite threshold limit. It is a cost-effective way to improve your existing health insurance policy. A Base Sum Insured Mediclaim Policy with Higher Sum Insured is liable to have higher Premium so IRDA has introduced this policy to give more cover with less premium.

 

Health top-up plans are generally cheaper as compared to the basic health plan. It would provide all the benefits that you get in a basic health plan, but it would come into light only when the threshold limit of your existing regular health plan gets exhausted. Its then that a top up plan will cover the rest of the treatment and its charges.

 

Example for super top up policy-

For example, one employee/self is having sum insured of 3 lacs and he has taken super top up policy of 10 lacs. If in any case total claim amount is 10 lacs then he will get the claim amount as under-

• 3 lacs from the Group policy
• 3 lacs from the Corporate Buffer
• 4 lacs from super top policy.

Balance sum insured of 6 lacs he can utilize from his super top up policy during the 1 year tenure.
