Mumbai, October 13, 2024 — As the third anniversary of the National Master Plan for Multi-modal Connectivity is marked, the PM GatiShakti initiative continues to stand as a beacon of integrated planning and execution in India’s infrastructure landscape. Launched on Durga Ashtami in 2021, this initiative symbolizes a transformative approach to infrastructure, embodying the spirit of Atma Nirbhar Bharat (Self-reliant India). PM GatiShakti has brought together 44 Central Ministries and 36 States/UTs on a unified platform, breaking down barriers of fragmented planning. This collaboration ensures synchronized execution across various sectors, significantly reducing delays, logistical costs, and resource inefficiencies.
Key Achievements Over the Past Three Years:
Enhanced Connectivity: The Pune-Bengaluru Expressway exemplifies this success, where advanced tools on the GatiShakti platform optimized the route from 841 kilometers to 787 kilometers. This not only saved resources but also reduced environmental impact, preserving 19% of forest land in Tumakuru district.
Technological Innovation: The integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), satellite imagery, and real-time data has revolutionized project planning. This enables ministries and private players to identify intersections and coordinate effectively, mitigating bottlenecks in infrastructure development.
Sustainability: By prioritizing eco-friendly project designs, GatiShakti minimizes disruption to natural habitats. This approach has facilitated faster project completions while safeguarding the environment.
Social Impact: The PAHUNCH portal in Uttar Pradesh highlights GatiShakti’s role in enhancing access to education by mapping underserved areas, ensuring that children, especially girls in rural regions, can attend schools closer to home.
