Artist Group from Madhya Pradesh celebrates the spiritual essence of ‘REVA’ at Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai

Mumbai, November 6th, 2024 – The revered Jehangir Art Gallery has opened its doors to REVA, a compelling art exhibition that immerses visitors in the beauty, heritage, spirituality and the rich culture of Madhya Pradesh and its soul – Narmada River. Curated by a talented quartet of artists hailing from Madhya Pradesh—Anurag Jadia, Praveen Khare, Trapti Gupta, and Vandita Shrivastava—REVA showcases diverse artistic perspectives that brings the essence from the heart of India to life.

 

Inaugurated by Hon. Shri Manu Kumar Srivastava, IAS, Chief Commissioner, RGS, Maharashtra the launch saw an impressive turnout of art connoisseurs, cultural aficionados, and notable guests.  The exhibition was also graced by Manohar Bothra, Ex-Director SBI, Nirmala Samant, Former Mayor of Mumbai, Former Chairperson Maharashtra State Women Commission, Reena Unmesh Wagh, Industrialists – Ashok Golani and and Arvind Shah as well as Shreyans Daga, Motivational Speaker and KP Singh, MD, Think Media Group

 

The event was a significant milestone for the artists, who have passionately envisioned this exhibition since 2016, dedicating years of collaborative effort to realizing their dream at Jehangir Art Gallery.
 

 

A tribute seven years in the making, REVA embodies the artists’ deep connection with Madhya Pradesh and the holy Narmada River, known reverently as “Rewa,” that flows from the heart of Madhya Pradesh. The artists of REVA have tapped into this essence, drawing from the state’s timeless beauty and positive energies. Through their unique interpretations, they have captured a visual symphony of India’s cultural heritage, a deep storehouse of religious, historical, and social values, intertwined with the region’s rich philosophy and spirituality

 

Anurag Jadia portrays the sacred philosophy of spiritual practice found in India’s great mountains, each brushstroke evoking soft yet powerful emotions. Praveen Khare’s works exude supernatural visions, embracing the religious, historical, and social ethics deeply rooted in India’s culture. Trapti Gupta’s compositions showcase the modern spirit of India with expressive colors and themes that harmonize the natural and ethical dimensions of contemporary life. Vandita Shrivastava’s art captures the vibrant folk life of India, blending Mandane and Warli techniques to depict the river’s timeless connection to human life. 

 

The REVA exhibition presents an immersive journey, celebrating Madhya Pradhesh as both a historic and spiritual entity. The artists honor this with every canvas, reflecting its psyche and India’s soul through the colorful and supernatural essence of the Narmada’s waves.

 

Open to the public at Gallery No. 2, Jehangir Art Gallery, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily until November 11, 2024, REVA invites everyone to witness Madhya Pradesh’s beauty, spirit, and contribution to India’s cultural legacy through the eyes of these visionary artists.
