How to keep your car running in the winter

We all know how the winter season can be tough on our cars here in the US. In this blog article, we’ll take a look at five ways you can keep your car running like new in the cold, so that it won’t cause too much of a headache for you as well!

What to look for when it’s cold outside

If you live in a climate that gets very cold in the winter, your vehicle most likely has heated seats and windshield, so it’s easy to forget that there are other things to be aware of when it’s cold outside. If your engine is about to overheat, the car will protect itself by shutting down the engine. In some states and countries, if your car is still running but shuts down before you can get out, you might have to pay a fine for being caught driving a running vehicle.

How to prevent weather problems from causing a breakdown

Snow, sleet, ice–winter weather can cause a variety of problems with your car. The most common problem is that salt and other chemicals used to treat roads degrade the integrity of rubber parts on your vehicle. To prevent this from happening, keep your tires inflated to their recommended pressure. You should also make sure that you have an adequate supply of windshield washer fluid in case it freezes and melts down.

How to fix common winter car problems

As soon as the snow hits the ground, it’s time to start preparing your car for winter. Here are some easy tips on how to keep your car running smoothly all winter long.

– Check if you need a tune-up or a regular maintenance service

– Replace the air filter and change the cabin filter

– Check and top off brake fluids

– Ensure that windshield wipers are in good working order

What do you do when your car does break down?

It’s not uncommon for people to have their car break down during the winter months, but there are a few things you can do to make sure it doesn’t happen again. For starters, don’t leave your car unattended if it’s running. If it does break down and you’re driving your car, pull over as soon as possible, turn off your engine and cover everything with blankets.
